Why Lodestar exists

Owners run the business. Marketing should not feel like a second job.

We started Lodestar for owners of small and local businesses who are busy serving customers and tired of marketing reports they cannot read. Too many agencies lean on jargon, long contracts and vague updates.

So we do it the other way. We write a focused plan you can understand, do the work that plan calls for, and report on what matters: the leads it brings in. If we are not earning our place, you can leave at the end of the month.

How we work

Four promises we build every engagement around

Plain English, always

Every plan, scope and report is written so an owner can read it over coffee and know what happens next. No acronyms left unexplained.

Reports tied to leads

We report on the calls, form fills and inquiries your marketing produces, not a pile of numbers that look busy.

Month-to-month, no lock-in

No long-term contract holding you in place. You stay because the work is useful, and you can stop when it is not.

Focused on a modest budget

We pick the few channels most likely to bring local customers, rather than spreading a small budget thin across everything.

What the work actually involves

No black box. Here is the rhythm you can expect, from the first conversation to the monthly report.

  1. First conversation

    We listen before we plan

You tell us who your customers are, what you sell and where leads come from today. We ask plain questions and write down what we hear.

  2. The plan

A focused plan you can read

We choose the few pieces of local SEO, email and website work that fit your business and budget, and agree a clear scope with you.

  3. Each month

    We do the work

Local search upkeep, email campaigns and website improvements, carried out against the scope we agreed, so you can keep running your business.

  4. End of month

An honest report, tied to leads

You get a report in plain English on what we did and what it brought in. Then you decide whether to carry on. Terms are month-to-month.

What you get

The usual agency way, and the way we do it

The usual way

  • Jargon-heavy proposals
  • Long contracts that are hard to leave
  • Vague reports full of vanity numbers
  • Marketing spread across everything

With Lodestar

  • A plain-English plan you can read
  • Clear scopes and month-to-month terms
  • Honest monthly reports tied to leads
  • Focused local SEO, email and website work

Three kinds of work, done in plain view: local SEO so nearby customers find you, email marketing so past customers come back, and website work so visitors turn into inquiries.
